HISTORY
Diwan: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Arab was first published in June 2009. In its early years (2009–2011), the journal featured articles contributed primarily by lecturers within the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang. From 2012, the journal expanded its scope to a national audience, welcoming contributions from scholars and practitioners across Indonesia.
On 5 June 2017, Diwan launched its online edition and adopted the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The journal has also served as a medium for collaborative research between faculty members and students. Since June 2019, Diwan has been published exclusively in digital format. In the same year, the journal received national accreditation at the SINTA 5 level and maintained this ranking through reaccreditation in 2022.
Starting from 10 February 2025, Diwan began a formal collaborative partnership with the Association of Researchers on Arabic Language and Literature "Lisaniya Adabiya". This collaboration was established to enhance publication quality in alignment with Diwan's vision of becoming a journal with an international scholarly reputation.
The collaboration has yielded tangible results, most notably the elevation of Diwan's national accreditation ranking to SINTA 2, as stipulated in the Decree of the Director General of Research and Development of the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Technology Number 295/C/C3/KPT/2026 on the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for Period 2, 2025. This ranking is valid from Volume 17, Number 1 (2025) to Volume 21, Number 2 (2029).
