About the Journal

Diwan: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Arab is an internationally peer-reviewed journal publishing original research across the full spectrum of Arabic linguistics, literary studies, and translation. Published by the Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Faculty of Adab and Humanities, State Islamic University Imam Bonjol Padang, in partnership with the Association of Researchers on Arabic Language and Literature "Lisaniya Adabiya," the journal particularly welcomes research that reads Arabic language and literature as a site where power is exercised, identity is negotiated, resistance finds voice, and linguistic-cultural forms are transformed.

Diwan proceeds from the premise that Arabic language and literature are frequently implicated in the production of social meaning — sustaining authority, defining subjects and communities, giving voice to those rendered silent, or reconfiguring linguistic and cultural forms in response to changing contexts. Diwan particularly welcomes submissions that engage this premise, while remaining open to any research — linguistic or literary, qualitative or quantitative — that offers a clear interpretive, theoretical, or methodological contribution to the field.

By choosing Diwan, authors join a community of inquiry spanning Arabic linguistics, literary studies, and translation, with particular emphasis on scholarship that reads Arabic language and literature as sites of power, identity, resistance, and transformation. Whether an established scholar, an early-career researcher, or a graduate student, contributors are invited to advance a tradition of rigorous, theoretically grounded scholarship in the field.
