2025-04-23

Esteemed Colleagues,

We are thrilled to announce the publication of the new edition of Diwan: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Arab (Volume 17, Number 1, 2025).

This edition features scholarly articles in Arabic linguistics and literature that address significant and current issues. This edition's analysis of Palestinian struggle literature from semantic and stylistic viewpoints enhances research findings in postcolonial and eco-resistance studies. This study by Diwan: Jurnal Bahasa dan Sastra Arab aims to enhance humanities research in support of human rights initiatives. The study looks at how Arabic social issues are shown in stories and memes as creative ways of using language in new media, which provides important understanding of social classes, overlapping identities, and how modern Arab women are portrayed. These studies demonstrate the contributions of Diwan to academic discourse on sensitive topics, including gender, race, and ethnicity. Diwan is committed to addressing global issues by examining extreme thought in Saudi Arabia's modernisation context. This study offers a significant analysis of how ideology and religious identity are preserved in a context that systematically and structurally suppresses their expression.

The editorial team expresses gratitude to the authors who contributed their excellent research to Diwan: Journal Bahasa dan Sastra Arab. Thanks to the trust of the authors, this edition has accommodated the academic collaboration of 16 authors from 9 institutions and 6 countries (Indonesia, Turkey, Tunisia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Malaysia).
